Why I Built This: My Journey as a Law Enforcement Professional with ADHD
I didn't build Sentinel GPT because I thought AI was cool. I built it because I lived the struggle—and I knew there had to be a better way.
The Report That Broke Me
It was 4 AM on a Tuesday in 2014. I was staring at a blank document, cursor blinking, knowing I had a case affidavit that needed to be written up before morning so I could take this arrestee into federal custody. The facts were all there—in my head, in my notes, scattered across three different notebooks. But translating that into a coherent, professional report? That felt impossible.
This wasn't the first time. It wasn't the hundredth time. As a law enforcement professional with ADHD, this was my reality. Every. Single. Day.
My name is Jordan Lovelace, and I built Global AI Sentinel and Sentinel GPT from the ground up—not because I saw a market opportunity, but because I lived the problem I'm trying to solve.
The Hidden Struggle No One Talks About
Here's what people outside law enforcement don't understand: the job isn't just about investigations, interviews, and putting cases together. A massive part of the work—easily 30-70% of your time—is administrative. This is all dependent on the types of cases you are working and what agency you work for, but this is the average.
- ▸Writing reports
- ▸Documenting evidence
- ▸Analyzing financial records
- ▸Preparing case summaries
- ▸Following up on details that seem minor but matter in court
For neurotypical professionals, this is tedious but manageable. For those of us who are neurodivergent—ADHD, dyslexia, or any number of processing differences—it can feel like trying to swim upstream through concrete.
I'd finish an interview, adrenaline pumping, knowing I'd just gotten a crucial piece of information. Then I'd sit down to write it up... and three hours later, I'd have half a page and a headache.
The worst part? I was good at the actual work. The investigation. The interviews. Reading people. Connecting the dots. But the paperwork made me feel like a failure.
What ADHD Really Looks Like on the Job
Let me paint you a picture of a typical day in my brain:
I'm writing a report. Three sentences in, I remember a detail I forgot to add to a different case. I switch tabs to add it. While there, I notice an email I haven't answered. I respond. Now I'm thinking about that email's content, which reminds me of another case. Twenty minutes later, I look back at my original report. I've lost my train of thought completely.
This isn't laziness. It's not lack of discipline. It's how my brain is wired. And for years, I thought I was the only one struggling this hard.
I wasn't.
When I started talking to colleagues—really talking, not just complaining about paperwork—I found that so many of them were fighting the same battle. Some had ADHD. Some didn't. But everyone dreaded the administrative side of the job. Everyone wished there was a better way.
The Moment Everything Changed
I remember the exact moment I decided to build this.
I was working on a financial investigation in 2021. Hundreds of transactions. Multiple accounts. I needed to identify patterns, flag anomalies, and then write it all up in a way that a prosecutor could understand and a jury could follow.
I spent 20 hours straight on that report.
It was time-sensitive, and there was no shortcut. Twenty hours where I could have been doing actual investigative work. Twenty hours of frustration, re-reading the same paragraphs, restructuring sections that still didn't flow right.
And when I finally finished, I thought: There has to be a tool for this. Something built for people like me. Something that understands what we actually do.
I looked. ChatGPT was out, but it was generic. It didn't understand law enforcement workflows. It didn't know how to structure an investigation summary. It couldn't help me prepare for a witness interview in a way that actually made sense.
So I decided to build it myself.
What Sentinel GPT Actually Does
I built Sentinel GPT to be the tool I desperately needed when I was in the field. Here's what that looks like:
📝 Report Writing Mode
You give it your notes—messy, incomplete, whatever you've got—and it helps you turn that into a structured, professional report. It understands the format. It catches details you might have missed. It doesn't replace your expertise; it amplifies it.
⚖️ Legal Assistant Mode
Need to analyze a contract? Understand a statute? Research case law? This mode is trained to help with legal document analysis—not to replace attorneys, but to help you do the preliminary work faster.
🎤 Interview Prep Mode
Before a witness interview or deposition, you can work through potential questions, identify inconsistencies in statements, and develop your strategy. It's like having a prep partner available 24/7.
📄 Document Analysis
Upload a PDF—a contract, a financial statement, a case file—and ask questions about it. The AI reads it, understands it, and helps you extract what matters.
Built for People Like Me
When I designed Sentinel GPT, I kept one person in mind: me, back in 2014, staring at that blank document at 4 AM.
That's why the interface is clean and focused. No distractions. No overwhelming options.
That's why you can switch modes with one click, so you don't lose momentum.
That's why the responses are structured and scannable—because I know what it's like when your brain can't process walls of text.
I built this for law enforcement professionals. For investigators. For legal professionals. For anyone who does important, complex work but gets bogged down in the administrative side.
And yes, I built it for people with ADHD. For the neurodivergent professionals who are brilliant at their jobs but struggle with the parts that neurotypical systems weren't designed to accommodate.
You're Not Alone
If you've ever felt like you're drowning in paperwork while your actual work suffers—you're not alone.
If you've ever wondered why something that seems simple for others feels impossible for you—you're not alone.
If you've ever stayed late, worked weekends, or brought work home because you just couldn't get through the reports during normal hours—you're not alone.
I've been there. I'm still there some days. But now I have a tool that helps.
That's what I want to give you.
What's Next
Sentinel GPT is just the beginning. I'm building Global AI Sentinel to be a suite of tools designed specifically for the professionals who protect, investigate, and uphold justice.
Every feature comes from real experience. Real pain points. Real conversations with people doing this work every day.
If you try Sentinel GPT and think "this is good, but it would be better if it did X"—tell me. Email me directly. I read every message. Because this isn't some corporate product built by people who've never done the job. This is built by one of us, for all of us.
Try it free. See if it helps. And if it does, share it with the colleagues you know are struggling too.
We don't have to do this alone anymore.
